Train Between Stations FAQ

How are trains identified between two stations?

Each train has a unique five-digit train number that IRCTC and Indian Railways use to identify it across all systems. Trains between two stations are listed with their train number, name, and the class of service available. The same physical train may have different numbers for its up and down journeys for example 12951 and 12952 are the same Mumbai Rajdhani but in opposite directions. When you search for trains between stations the system displays both directions and shows the departure time from your chosen source station and the arrival time at your destination, along with the total travel duration.
