Coach Layout FAQ

What is a railway coach layout?

A railway coach layout is the internal seating or berth arrangement inside a train coach. It shows how the seats or berths are positioned, how many passengers each coach can hold, and where the aisles, windows, and doors are located. Each class of travel has a different layout. Sleeper class has three-tier berths on both sides of the aisle, AC 3 Tier also has three-tier berths but with AC and curtains, AC 2 Tier has two-tier berths, and AC First Class has private cabins. Chair car coaches used in Shatabdi and Vande Bharat trains have rows of reclining seats like an aeroplane cabin.
