PNR Status FAQ

What is a PNR number?

A PNR or Passenger Name Record is a unique 10-digit number that IRCTC assigns to every train ticket booked in India. This number acts as the identity of your booking and contains all the details about your journey including the train name and number, date of travel, source and destination stations, passenger names, ages, gender, berth preferences, and the current booking status. You receive this number after successfully booking a ticket through IRCTC, a railway counter, or an authorised agent. The PNR stays valid from the time of booking until the journey is completed and can be used to check the status anytime.
