Coach Position FAQ
What is coach position in a train?
Coach position refers to the arrangement and order of coaches in a train from the engine to the guard van. Each train has a fixed coach composition that tells you which coach type is placed where for example the AC First Class coach may be at the front followed by AC 2 Tier, AC 3 Tier, Sleeper, and General coaches. Knowing the coach position helps you stand at the right spot on the platform before the train arrives so you can board your coach without having to walk along the entire train. The position is usually displayed on the platform indicator boards and on the train itself.
